Cooking Pork Steaks

Cooking pork steaks is very easy most of the time. There are quite of few recipes that you can follow when preparing your pork steaks so they come out tasting superb every single time.

Some pork steaks are cooked with a variety of glazes such as orange sauce or apples with mustard sauce. The ingredients of orange sauce include lemon, oranges, minced shallots, butter, sour cream and ground pepper (and glace de viande + water). The juices from the lemons and oranges are first squeezed into a marinara which is spread onto the pork chops which will sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Afterwards the pan is preheated and then the marinated meat is placed in it, then the rest of the above ingredients will be added.

The other great sauce mentioned above is the apples with mustard sauce. This is also a marinara that is added to pork steaks while cooking, or afterwards. It depends upon personal preference. When using any kind of marinara it is best to wait until that piece of meat is at least halfway done to prevent the marinara from getting burnt.

The apples with mustard sauce contain white wine and heavy cream which is added to the mustard and apples. Butter and salt can also be added for best results. If you want to make it a more health conscious meal you can skip the salt and butter, though.

For the apples and mustard sauce recipe, the apples are usually being baked at the same time as the pork chops are being fried. Then, the pork chops are placed on top of the apples. Little by little the other ingredients are mixed and dribbled over the top of the apples and pork steaks.

Another great sauce that can be used to cook pork steaks is mustard cream. This mustard cream contains ingredients such as flour, vegetable oil, white burgundy wine, Dijon mustard, tomato puree, and chives (chopped for dish, and slivered for garnish). First the pork steaks are dipped into the flour and browned on both sides for about 5 minutes over medium-high heat. Then they are seasoned with salt and pepper and transferred to a baking dish and cooked for 15 more minutes in the oven.

After the pork chops are cooked in the oven, the fat is drained off and the rest of the ingredients are added to a skillet along with juices from cooked pork chops to make a sauce. Then the pork steaks are kept warm in the oven at 200 degrees until ready to be served. If the sauce gets cold while chops are cooling, you can reheat it.
